    实验步骤

    Specificity / Sensitivity

Perilipin-5 (F3N2F) Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody recognizes endogenous levels of total perilipin-5 protein. This antibody does not cross-react with perilipin-1, perilipin-2, perilipin-3 or perilipin-4 protein.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human, Mouse

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues near the carboxy terminus of human perilipin-5 protein.

    Background

Eukaryotic cells store lipids in lipid droplets. These intracellular lipid storage structures are covered by members of the perilipin family of lipid droplet coat proteins. Perilipins establish an interface between stored lipids and the cytosol, and coordinate lipid storage and utilization (1-3). Studies show that Rab8a, a mitochondrial receptor for lipid droplets, binds to perilipin-5 associated with these lipid storage structures in skeletal muscle under the starvation condition to promote long-chain fatty acid mobilization from lipid droplets into mitochondria for fatty acid β-oxidation (4). Furthermore, it was shown that perilipin-5 interacts with mitochondrial FATP4 to facilitate fatty acid transport from lipid droplets to mitochondria (5).
