    Ym1/Chi3l3 (F7T7N) Rabbit mAb recognizes endogenous levels of total Ym1/Chi3l3 protein. This antibody does not cross-react with Ym2/Chi3l4 or AMCase/Chia proteins. This antibody detects a 28 kDa protein of unknown identity in some cell lines and tissues.

    Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Asp275 of mouse Ym1/Chi3l3 protein.

    Background

    Chitinase-like protein 3 (CHI3L3), also called Ym1, is a rodent specific chitinase-like protein (CLP) (1,7). Chitinases are a class of chitin-degrading enzymes produced in the host, which play a protective role in innate immunity against the chitin-containing pathogens, including parasites, fungi, and arthropods (1,2,7). In healthy tissues, Ym1 is expressed in the spleen, bone marrow, and lung (7). Ym1 expression can be induced by various inflammatory stimuli, such as allergic airway inflammation, parasitic infection, or autoimmune disease (7). Ym1 is primarily produced by alternatively activated (M2) macrophages and is often used as a marker for these cells (3-7).
