    实验步骤

    Specificity / Sensitivity

SCD5 (F6Z4R) Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody recognizes endogenous levels of total SCD5 protein.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues near the carboxy terminus of human SCD5 protein.

    Background

Human stearoyl-CoA desaturase 5 (SCD5), also known as acyl-CoA-desaturase 4 (ACOD4), is an isoform of stearoyl-CoA desaturase (SCD) in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane that converts saturated fatty acids into monounsaturated fatty acids. There are human SCD5 orthologs in primates but not in rodents. Human SCD5 exhibits a similar Δ9-desaturase activity to SCD1 and has been shown to desaturate stearoyl-CoA (C18:0) to its corresponding monounsaturated fatty acid (1-3). Studies suggest that SCD5 is a regulator of neuronal cell growth and differentiation (3). Furthermore, SCD5 exhibits a substrate preference for C18:0 and is essential for glioblastoma stem cell (GSC) self-renewal, survival, and tumor initiation (4).
