Polyclonal antibodies are produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues near the amino terminus of human ATF-1 protein. Antibodies are purified by peptide affinity chromatography.
Background
Activating transcription factor 1 (ATF-1) is a bZIP transcription factor that is a member of the cyclic AMP (cAMP)-response element-binding protein (CREB) family. Like other members of the CREB family, ATF-1 mediates signals from numerous physiological stimuli and activates target genes through cAMP-response elements, resulting in the regulation of a broad array of cellular responses. ATF-1 can be phosphorylated at Ser63 by protein kinase A (PKA), calmodulin-dependent protein kinase (CaMK), and cyclin-dependent kinase 3 (CDK3), which recruits CBP/p300 and enhances transcriptional activity (1-3). ATF-1 expression levels have been found to be elevated in lymphomas and metastatic melanoma cells, where it contributes to tumor growth (4,5). The gene fusion of ATF-1 with EWSR1, which encodes for the EWSR1-ATF1 oncoprotein, is also implicated in a variety of cancers, most notably in clear cell sarcoma (CCS) (6).

IMPORTANT: For western blots, incubate membrane with diluted primary antibody in 5% w/v BSA, 1X TBS, 0.1% Tween® 20 at 4°C with gentle shaking, overnight.
